Open Covid Conference Call
March 26, 2020
An open science call took place on March 26, 2020 to discuss collective intelligence approaches to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Below is the invitation with more information about the call.
Dear friends,
In this time of exigency, how can we use open source and collective intelligence approaches to respond to the COVID-19 crisis, in its scientific and societal dimensions? Can we create a sort of MOOR (Massive Open Online Research) for COVID-19?
Science is built on sharing. Open source approaches are coming to the fore. Please join us for a call.
Some possible scientific areas of interest:
A group of scientists is assembling by phone on Thursday, March 26 at 1030am North America EDT/330pm Paris CET/8pm India to brainstorm. We invite you to attend. If the time does not work for you, please reply to stay in touch. We also note that that March 24 is World TB Day.
Best wishes, and keep safe.
Ariel Lindner, CRI-Paris
Jaykumar Menon, Open Source Pharma Foundation
Bernard Munos, Faster Cures
Gurusingham Sittampalam, NIH - National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences
Francois Taddei, CRI-Paris

Some possible scientific areas of interest:
- an open approach to repurposing off-patent drugs/molecules, combining in silico work with later stages. Can we generate a larger and more diverse set of promising hypotheses? Can we identify additional candidates that have potential?
- research working with the huge numbers of people who are at home, and not in the health system
- open computational analysis of public health data
- work involving Sub Saharan Africa or South Asia, which may be hard hit in the future
- other
